"Your Faith Anew!"
Your Faith Anew! exists to help souls grow in their knowledge of the Catholic Faith, strive to remain in a state of grace, and encounter the transforming joy of the Gospel. Its mission is simple yet eternal: to save souls, glorify God, and become saints.
Hosted by David Russell, this daily reflection podcast draws deeply from Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the writings of the Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta—especially The Book of Heaven—guiding listeners into a deeper understanding of living in the Divine Will.
David is the author of four spiritually rich works: Magi Theology: The Essence of Illusion, The Little Magician – Discovers Bigger and Better, Our Pilgrimage with the Pilgrim Virgin, and his newest release, Our Mother in the Divine Will. With a lifelong fascination for the mystical, David discovered a profound connection between the art of illusion and deeper spiritual realities—an insight that inspired both his theological and children’s writings. His work Magi Theology received both the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur from the Diocese of Knoxville.
In 2010, David was introduced to the writings of Luisa Piccarreta, which deeply resonated with his own spiritual insights. This encounter helped shape the foundation of his ministry.
In 2017, he founded the Your Faith Anew! prayer and study group to help Catholics rediscover and fall in love with their Faith. At the heart of his message is this conviction:
“The Catholic Faith prepares us to receive the Gift of Living in the Divine Will—and this Gift enables us to live our Faith in a divine manner most pleasing to God.”
Join us daily as we seek not only to understand our Faith—but to live it fully, joyfully, and in union with the Divine Will.

Luisa writes,
Continuing in my usual state, and with highest bitterness because of the continuous privations of my adorable Jesus, He made Himself seen for just a little, telling me: “My daughter, the first bomb which must be primed in the interior of the soul is mortification. When this bomb is thrown into the soul, it knocks everything down and immolates everything to God. In fact, in the soul it is as though there are many palaces, but all of vices, such as pride, disobedience, along with many other vices; and the bomb of mortification, knocking everything down, rebuilds as many other palaces of virtues, immolating them and sacrificing them all to the glory of God.” Having said this, He disappeared.
A little later, the devil came, who just wanted to molest me; and I, without becoming fearful, said to him: ‘Why do you want to molest me? If you want to show how brave you are, take a rod and beat me up to the point of leaving me not even one drop of blood, provided, however, that each drop of blood I shed be one more proof of love, of reparation and of glory which I intend to give to my God.’ And he: “I don’t have a rod with me to be able to beat you; and if I go fetch it, you will not wait for me.” And I: ‘Go ahead – I’ll be waiting for you here.’ So he went off, and I remained with the firm intention of waiting for him. But to my surprise, I saw that, as he met with another demon, the two were saying: “It is useless for us to go back. Why should we beat her, if this must serve to harm us, and as a loss for us? It is good to make suffer one who does not want to suffer, because he would offend God; but if one wants to suffer, we would do harm to ourselves with our own hands.” So he did not come back, and I was left mortified.

SPEAKER_01Welcome. This is David Russell and Your Faith Anew, Daily Reflections guiding you to live in the divine will. Today's reflection is from the Book of Heaven by the servant of God Louisa Picaretta, may twenty eighth, nineteen oh four, volume six. Let us begin in the will and name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Lord Jesus, teach us the hidden beauty of mortification and sacrifice. Tear down within us every obstacle to your divine will, and rebuild our souls into dwelling places of virtue and holiness. Give us courage in spiritual battle, and the grace to embrace suffering with love for your glory. Amen. Saint Peter writes in the first letter of Peter, chapter five verses eight and nine. Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in faith. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in paragraph fourteen thirty. Jesus' call to conversion and penance, like that of the prophets before him, does not aim first at outward works sack cloth and ashes, fasting and mortification, but at the conversion of the heart, interior conversion. The Lord desires not merely external sacrifice, but a soul transformed from within. Mortification becomes holy when it destroys selfishness and rebuilds the soul according to the divine will. And now let us enter into today's reading from the book of Heaven. Louisa writes Continuing in my usual state and with highest bitterness because of the continuous privations of my adorable Jesus, he made himself seen for just a little, telling me My daughter, the first bomb which must be primed in the interior of the soul is mortification. When this bomb is thrown into the soul, it knocks everything down and immolates everything to God. In fact, in the soul it is as though there are many palaces, but all of vices, such as pride, disobedience, along with many other vices, and the bomb of mortification knocking everything down rebuilds as many other palaces of virtues, immolating them and sacrificing them all to the glory of God. Having said this, he disappeared. A little later the devil came, who just wanted to molest me, and I, without becoming fearful, said to him, Why do you want to molest me? If you want to show how brave you are, take a rod and beat me up to the point of leaving me not even one drop of blood, provided, however, that each drop of blood I shed be one more proof of love, of reparation and of glory which I intend to give to my God. And he I don't have a rod with me to be able to beat you, and if I go to fetch it, you will not wait for me. And I go ahead, I'll be waiting for you here. So he went off, and I remained with the firm intention of waiting for him. But to my surprise, I saw that as he met with another demon, the two were saying it is useless for us to go back. Why should we beat her? If this must serve to harm us and as a loss for us, it is good to make suffer one who does not want to suffer, because he would offend God. But if one wants to suffer, we would do harm to ourselves with our own hands. So he did not come back, and I was left mortified. Jesus uses a unique image in today's reading mortification as a bomb thrown into the soul. Yet this is not destruction for destruction's sake, it is the destruction of pride, selfishness, vanity, disobedience, and every attachment that keeps the soul from total union with God. The divine will does not merely decorate the soul, it rebuilds it entirely. Jesus explains that many palaces already exist within us, but they are often built upon vice and self love. Mortification tears down those false structures so that virtues may rise in their place. This teaching can seem severe in a modern world that avoids sacrifice and discomfort. Yet every saint discovered that holiness requires surrender. Mortification is not hatred of self, it is love purified. It is the willing sacrifice of our own will so that the divine will may reign fully within us. Even the encounter with the devil reveals a profound spiritual truth. Suffering, embraced for love of God, loses its power to harm us spiritually. The enemy fears souls who willingly unite their sufferings to God because such souls transform their suffering into glory, reparation, and grace. Today, Jesus invites us to allow him to demolish whatever keeps us from holiness. The soul rebuilt in the divine will becomes a fortress of peace, virtue, and unwavering love. Let us pray. Lord Jesus, cast into my soul the holy fire of your divine will. Tear down every palace of pride, fear, selfishness, and resistance within me. Rebuild my heart into a dwelling place of virtue, humility, and love. Give me courage in moments of spiritual battle. Teach me to accept sacrifices, contradictions, and sufferings with trust and peace. May every cross become an offering of reparation and glory for your sacred heart. Jesus, remove from me all that does not belong to you. Let your divine will reign in every thought, desire, and action. May my life be a continual yes to your transforming grace. Amen. Thank you for joining your faith anew today. The path of holiness is not built upon comfort, but upon surrender. Until tomorrow, stay in his will, and your faith will be made anew.
