July 21, 1900 – Volume 3

Luisa writes,

After spending one day being dozy and so sleepy that I could not understand myself, having received Communion, I felt I was going outside of myself, but I could not find my highest and only Good, so I began to go round and round in a delirium. While doing this, I felt there was someone in my arms, completely veiled, in such a way that I could not see who he was. So, unable to refrain any longer, I tore that veil and I saw my longed-for All. On seeing Him, I felt I wanted to burst into complaints and nonsense, but in order to break my impatience and my delirium, Jesus gave me a kiss. That kiss infused in me life, calm, and broke my impatience, so much so, that I was unable to say anything any more. Then, forgetting all my miseries - and I have many - I remembered the poor people, and I said to Jesus: ‘Placate Yourself, spare so many peoples torments so cruel. Let us go together where such things are happening, that we may comfort and console those poor Christians who are in such a sad state.’ And He: “My daughter, I do not want to take you, for your heart would not bear seeing such a harrowing slaughter.” And I: ‘Ah, Lord, how is it that You have permitted this?’ And He: “It is necessary, absolutely, for the sake of purgation in every place, because in the field sowed by Me weeds and thorns have grown so much as to become trees. And these thorny trees do nothing but inundate my field with poisonous and pestilent waters, to the point that if some ear of grain remains intact, it receives nothing but punctures and stench, so much so, that it is impossible for more ears to germinate – first, because they lack the ground, which is occupied by so many noxious plants; second, because of the continuous punctures they receive, which give them no peace. So, behold the necessity of the slaughter – to root out so many bad plants; and of shedding of blood – to purge my field of those poisonous and pestilent waters. Therefore, do not want to grow sad at this beginning, because not only there where I have sent chastisements, but in all other places is purgation needed.”

Who can say the consternation of my heart in hearing this speaking of Jesus? So, again, I insisted that I wanted to go see, but Jesus, not listening to me, disappeared. Left alone, I took my way to go there, but I found now an Angel, who would make me go back, and now purging souls, to the point that I was forced to return into myself.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome. This is David Russell and your faith anew, daily reflections guiding you to live in the divine will. Today's reflection is from the Book of Heaven by the servant of God Louisa Picaretta, july twenty first, nineteen hundred, volume three. Let us begin in the will and name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Heavenly Father, in every season of uncertainty, teach us to rest confidently in your loving providence. When our hearts struggle to understand the events unfolding around us, grant us the grace to believe that your wisdom always surpasses our own. Draw us more deeply into your divine will so that our thoughts, desires, and decisions may reflect the peace of Christ. May the Holy Spirit strengthen our faith, our blessed mother accompany us with her maternal care, and every circumstance of this day become an opportunity to glorify you. We ask this through Christ our Lord, amen. A reading from the Gospel according to John chapter fourteen verse twenty seven. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. The catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in Paragraph three hundred two Creation has its own goodness and proper perfection, but it did not spring forth complete from the hands of the Creator. The universe was created in a state of journeying in statu via toward an ultimate perfection yet to be attained, to which God has destined it. We call divine providence the dispositions by which God guides his creation toward this perfection. By his providence God protects and governs all things which he has made, reaching mightily from one end of the earth to the other and ordering all things well, for all are open and laid bare to his eyes, even those things which are yet to come into existence through the free action of creatures. May today's book of heaven reading invite us to discover how unwavering trust allows the soul to remain at peace, even when God's providence is not yet fully understood. With hearts open to the voice of the Lord, let us now receive today's Book of Heaven reading. Louisa writes After spending one day being dozy and so sleepy that I could not understand myself, having received communion, I felt I was going outside of myself, but I could not find my highest and only good. First, because they lack the ground, which is occupied by so many noxious plants, second because of the continuous punctures they receive, which give them no peace. So behold the necessity of the slaughter, to root out so many bad plants, and of shedding of blood, to purge my field of those poisonous and pestilent waters. Therefore, do not want to grow sad at this beginning, because not only there were I have sent chastisements, but in all other places in purgation needed. Left alone, I took my way to go there, but I found now an angel, who would make me go back, and now purging souls to the point that I was forced to return into myself. One of the greatest challenges of the spiritual life is accepting that God's wisdom often unfolds beyond the reach of our understanding. We naturally desire immediate answers, visible solutions and circumstances that make sense. Yet the Lord frequently invites us into something greater than explanations. He invites us into trust. Living in the divine will does not remove every mystery from our lives. Rather, it transforms the way we walk through mystery. Instead of measuring God's goodness by what we can presently see, we begin measuring every circumstance by His unchanging love. Faith becomes less about having every question answered, and more about knowing the one who holds every answer. This trust grows gradually. Each time we surrender an anxious thought, each time we choose prayer instead of worry, each time we place another concern into God's hands, our hearts become a little more like the heart of Jesus. Peace is no longer dependent upon favorable circumstances, but upon abiding in the certainty that the Father never ceases to govern his creation with infinite wisdom and love. There are moments when the world appears unsettled, and hearts become burdened by suffering, injustice or uncertainty. As disciples of Christ, we are certainly called to pray, to serve, and to love generously. Yet we are also called to resist the temptation to let fear become our master. Fear narrows our vision, while trust opens our hearts to grace. This is where the simple phrase let Jesus do becomes more than a comforting expression. It becomes a daily way of living. Let Jesus do what only He can do. Let Him guide what we cannot foresee. Let Him strengthen what feels weak within us. Let Him accomplish His eternal designs while we faithfully offer Him our yes in each ordinary moment. When we live this way, we discover that holiness is not found in controlling lives events, but in remaining united to God's will throughout them. The soul that continually entrusts itself to Him becomes a quiet witness that Christ's peace is stronger than confusion, His hope greater than discouragement, and His love more enduring than every trial. Today, ask for the grace to surrender one concern that has occupied your mind. Place it into the hands of Jesus without demanding immediate resolution. Then continue your day faithfully, confident that the Father is already working for your good and for his glory. Let us pray. Lord Jesus, I place this day into your loving hands. Teach me to trust you even when I do not understand your ways. Draw my thoughts, words, and actions into your divine will and replace every fear with the peace that comes from surrender. Help me to remember throughout this day to let Jesus do, allowing you to accomplish in me what I cannot do on my own. May my life glorify the Father and help hasten the coming of your kingdom. Amen. Thank you for joining your faith anew today. Wherever this day leads, walk with quiet confidence, knowing that every loving surrender to God's will becomes another step toward the holiness for which you were created. Until tomorrow, stay in His will, and your faith will be made anew
