Your Faith Anew! exists to help souls grow in their knowledge of the Catholic Faith, strive to remain in a state of grace, and encounter the transforming joy of the Gospel. Its mission is simple yet eternal: to save souls, glorify God, and become saints.

Hosted by David Russell, this daily reflection podcast draws deeply from Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the writings of the Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta—especially The Book of Heaven—guiding listeners into a deeper understanding of living in the Divine Will.

David is the author of four spiritually rich works: Magi Theology: The Essence of Illusion, The Little Magician – Discovers Bigger and Better, Our Pilgrimage with the Pilgrim Virgin, and his newest release, Our Mother in the Divine Will. With a lifelong fascination for the mystical, David discovered a profound connection between the art of illusion and deeper spiritual realities—an insight that inspired both his theological and children’s writings. His work Magi Theology received both the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur from the Diocese of Knoxville.

In 2010, David was introduced to the writings of Luisa Piccarreta, which deeply resonated with his own spiritual insights. This encounter helped shape the foundation of his ministry.

In 2017, he founded the Your Faith Anew! prayer and study group to help Catholics rediscover and fall in love with their Faith. At the heart of his message is this conviction:

“The Catholic Faith prepares us to receive the Gift of Living in the Divine Will—and this Gift enables us to live our Faith in a divine manner most pleasing to God.”

Luisa writes,

After I received Communion, my adorable Jesus transported me outside of myself, making Himself seen highly afflicted and embittered. I prayed Him to pour His bitternesses into me, but Jesus would not pay attention to me; however, as I insisted, after a long time He pleased to pour. After He had poured a little bit of bitterness, I asked: ‘Lord, don’t You feel better now?’ And He: “Yes, but it was not what I poured that gave Me so much pain; rather, it was a disgusting and insipid food that does not let Me rest.” And I: ‘Pour a little into me, so You will be relieved a little.’ And He: “If I cannot digest it and bear it, how could you?” And I: ‘I know that my weakness is great, but You will give me grace and strength, and so I will be able to contain it within myself.’ I understood, however, that the disgusting food was the impurities, and the insipid food was the good works done badly, all scrambled, which are rather of bother and of weight for Our Lord. He almost despises receiving them, and unable to bear them, He wants to pour them out of His mouth. Who knows how many of mine are there too!

So, almost forced by me, He also poured a little bit of that food. How right Jesus was! – the bitter was more tolerable than that disgusting and insipid food! If it were not for love of Him, I would not have accepted it at any cost.

After this, blessed Jesus placed His arm behind my neck, and leaning His head on my shoulder, He placed Himself in the act of wanting to take rest. While He was resting, I felt I was in a place in which there were many movable tiles, and underneath them, the abyss. Fearing I might fall, I woke Him up, invoking His help, and He said to me: “Do not fear, this is the path that all cover. It takes nothing but all of one’s attention; and since the majority walk carelessly, this is why many fall into the abyss and few are those who reach the harbor of salvation.” After this, He disappeared and I found myself inside myself.

Welcome. This is David Russell and your faith anew, daily reflections guiding you to live in the divine will. Today's reflection is from the Book of Heaven by the servant of God Louisa Picaretta, september fourth, nineteen hundred, volume three. Let us begin in the will and name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Lord Jesus, quiet my heart before you. Free me from distraction and from everything that makes me careless in your presence. Give me a love that is awake, a conscience that is tender, and a heart willing to be formed by grace. May everything I do today begin in you, remain in you, and return to the Father through you. Amen. A reading from the first letter of Saint Peter, chapter one, verses thirteen to sixteen. Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, live soberly, and set your hopes completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Like obedient children, do not act in compliance with the desires of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct, for it is written Be holy because I am holy. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in paragraph eighteen oh nine to live well is nothing other than to love God with all one's heart, with all one's soul, and with all one's efforts. From this it comes about that love is kept whole and uncorrupted through temperance. No misfortune can disturb it, and this is fortitude, and obeys only God, and this is justice, and is careful in discerning things, so as not to be surprised by deceit or trickery, and this is prudence. Let us now listen with an attentive heart, asking Jesus for the grace to recognize how deeply He desires our whole life to belong to Him. After this, he disappeared, and I found myself inside myself. There is a kind of holiness that is easy to overlook because it's not dramatic. It's the holiness of attention. Saint Peter tells Christians to prepare their minds for action and to live soberly, placing their hope completely in the grace of Jesus Christ. Holiness, then, involves an awakened soul, a person who is learning to notice what is happening within and around him in the presence of God. Much of our spiritual life is shaped by small moments. We begin a prayer, but our mind wanders. We perform an act of kindness, but secretly want recognition. We fulfill a responsibility, but resentment. We say yes to God yet hold something back. These things do not necessarily mean that our love is false. They reveal that our love still needs purification. And Jesus does not respond to that weakness by abandoning us. He forms us. This is where the virtue of temperance reaches far beyond moderation in food or drink. Christian temperance helps bring order to our desires so that we can belong more freely to God. Grace gradually teaches the heart not to be ruled by every impulse, mood, irritation, attraction, or distraction. That freedom matters enormously. Because the Christian life is not simply about doing good things, it is about becoming united to Christ so deeply that our actions increasingly proceed from that union. Think about the hidden life of Jesus at Nazareth, years of ordinary work, meals, prayer, family life, daily responsibilities, most of it unseen by the world. Yet nothing in the life of Jesus was spiritually insignificant because everything was lived in perfect communion with the Father. This opens a beautiful doorway into living in the divine will. We can begin offering God not merely the important moments, but the unnoticed ones washing a dish, answering a call, driving to work, listening patiently, beginning a prayer again after being distracted. Jesus, live this moment in me. Such a prayer can transform the ordinary because it changes the center from which we live. We'll still have weaknesses. We'll still need confession. We'll still discover mixed motives and imperfections. But we should never become discouraged by discovering how much remains unfinished within us. The discovery itself can become grace when it sends us back to Christ. Holiness is not anxious self-inspection, it is loving attentiveness to Jesus. And perhaps today he's asking for something spectacular from you. Only that when the next ordinary moment arrives, you recognize that he is already there. Let us pray. Jesus, I give you this present moment. I don't want to hurry past you while searching for something greater. Purify what is divided within me, bring my desires, intentions, thoughts, and actions beneath the gentle rule of your grace. When I become distracted, call me back. When self love enters what I do, teach me humility. When I become careless, awaken love within me again. And when I see my imperfections, keep me from discouragement. Let them become an invitation to depend more completely upon you. Jesus, I surrender my human will to you and desire to live each ordinary moment in your divine will. Let my smallest actions become acts of love offered with you to the Father. Keep my heart awake to your presence until everything in me can quietly say, Jesus, I am yours. Amen. Thank you for joining your faith anew today. Until tomorrow, stay in his will, and your faith will be made anew.
