Your Faith Anew! exists to help souls grow in their knowledge of the Catholic Faith, strive to remain in a state of grace, and encounter the transforming joy of the Gospel. Its mission is simple yet eternal: to save souls, glorify God, and become saints.

Hosted by David Russell, this daily reflection podcast draws deeply from Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the writings of the Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta—especially The Book of Heaven—guiding listeners into a deeper understanding of living in the Divine Will.

David is the author of four spiritually rich works: Magi Theology: The Essence of Illusion, The Little Magician – Discovers Bigger and Better, Our Pilgrimage with the Pilgrim Virgin, and his newest release, Our Mother in the Divine Will. With a lifelong fascination for the mystical, David discovered a profound connection between the art of illusion and deeper spiritual realities—an insight that inspired both his theological and children’s writings. His work Magi Theology received both the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur from the Diocese of Knoxville.

In 2010, David was introduced to the writings of Luisa Piccarreta, which deeply resonated with his own spiritual insights. This encounter helped shape the foundation of his ministry.

In 2017, he founded the Your Faith Anew! prayer and study group to help Catholics rediscover and fall in love with their Faith. At the heart of his message is this conviction:

“The Catholic Faith prepares us to receive the Gift of Living in the Divine Will—and this Gift enables us to live our Faith in a divine manner most pleasing to God.”

This morning I found myself in such disheartenment and I saw myself so bad, that I myself rendered myself unbearable. When Jesus came, I told Him of my pains and the miserable state in which I was, and He said to me: “My daughter, do not want to lose heart. It is my usual way to operate perfection little by little, and not everything in one instant, so that, in seeing that she is always lacking something, the soul may push herself and make all efforts in order to reach what she lacks, to please Me more and to sanctify herself more. And I, drawn by those acts, feel forced to give her new graces and celestial favors, and in this way a commerce, fully divine, forms between the soul and God. Otherwise, if the soul possessed within herself the fullness of perfection and therefore of all virtues, she would not find the way to strive, and to please Me more, and so the tinder with which to start the fire between creature and Creator would be missing.”

Welcome. This is David Russell and your faith anew Daily Reflections guiding you to live in the divine will. Today's reflection is from the Book of Heaven by the servant of God Louisa Picaretta, september fifth, eighteen ninety nine, volume two. Let us begin in the will and name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Lord Jesus, quiet within us every voice that tells us we're failing, because we've not yet become all that you desire us to be. Give us the humility to receive this day as a gift of grace. Awaken in us a holy desire for you, and teach us to place even our weakness into your hands. May your will find us attentive, willing, and ready to be formed by your love. Amen. A reading from the second letter of Peter chapter one verses five through eight. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue virtue with knowledge knowledge with self control self control with endurance endurance with devotion devotion with mutual affection. Mutual affection with love. If these are yours and increase in abundance, they will keep you from being idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in Paragraph nineteen eighty nine. The first work of the grace of the Holy Spirit is conversion, effecting justification in accordance with Jesus' proclamation at the beginning of the gospel. Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Moved by grace, man turns toward God and away from sin, thus accepting forgiveness and righteousness from on high. Justification is not only the remission of sins, but also the sanctification and renewal of the interior man. There is something wonderfully freeing in discovering that God does not require us to arrive before He begins loving us. One of the quiet temptations of the spiritual life is discouragement over the distance between the person we are and the person we believe we should be. We notice the same impatience returning, the same distraction in prayer, the same weakness we thought we had conquered, and we can begin to wonder after all this time, why am I not further along? But look at Jesus. Throughout the gospels, he forms his disciples patiently. Peter does not become Saint Peter overnight. The apostles misunderstand, hesitate, compete, become afraid, and sometimes fail spectacularly. Yet Jesus continues teaching them, correcting them, forgiving them, and calling them forward. Their incompleteness does not cause him to abandon his work, and neither does ours. Saint Peter eventually learned this so deeply that he could urge Christians to keep growing faith opening into virtue, virtue into knowledge, knowledge into self control, perseverance, devotion, mutual affection, and love. Christian holiness is alive. It grows. This helps us understand something important about our imperfections. We should never make peace with sin. We should never stop seeking conversion. But neither should we mistake the awareness of our weakness for evidence that God is absent. Sometimes seeing more clearly what still needs conversion is itself evidence that grace is illuminating the soul. Think of the difference between two prayers. The first says Lord, why am I still like this? The second says Jesus, here I am. What would you like to do in me now? The first can leave us staring at ourselves. The second turns our eyes toward Christ. That change of gaze matters. Living in the divine will does not mean presenting God with a finished soul. It means surrendering to him the soul we actually possess at this moment. We give him our desires, our limitations, our efforts, our failures, our willingness to begin again. Grace always comes first. Even our desire to respond is already touched by grace. Yet God dignifies us by inviting our free cooperation. As the catechism teaches, our response to Him is possible because His grace has first moved us. So perhaps today you see something in yourself that still needs to change. Do not be surprised. Do not run from Jesus and do not wait until you are better before surrendering yourself to him. Place that unfinished place directly into his hands.

Jesus, I adore you for your patience with me. Thank you for every grace I recognize and for the countless graces I've never noticed. Thank you for remaining nearer when I struggle, for calling me again when I wander, and for never tiring of drawing my heart toward you. I give you the places within me that are still unfinished. I give you what discourages me. I give you the virtues I desire, but do not yet possess in their fullness. Keep me from measuring my spiritual life by my feelings or by my own expectations. Give me instead the grace to remain close to you. Jesus, I surrender my human will to you. I don't ask to see how far I've traveled. I only ask for the grace to remain with you and to say yes to whatever you desire next. Jesus, I trust the work of your hands. Amen. Thank you for joining your faith anew today. Until tomorrow, stay in his will, and your faith will be made anew.
