Your Faith Anew! exists to help souls grow in their knowledge of the Catholic Faith, strive to remain in a state of grace, and encounter the transforming joy of the Gospel. Its mission is simple yet eternal: to save souls, glorify God, and become saints.

Hosted by David Russell, this daily reflection podcast draws deeply from Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the writings of the Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta—especially The Book of Heaven—guiding listeners into a deeper understanding of living in the Divine Will.

David is the author of four spiritually rich works: Magi Theology: The Essence of Illusion, The Little Magician – Discovers Bigger and Better, Our Pilgrimage with the Pilgrim Virgin, and his newest release, Our Mother in the Divine Will. With a lifelong fascination for the mystical, David discovered a profound connection between the art of illusion and deeper spiritual realities—an insight that inspired both his theological and children’s writings. His work Magi Theology received both the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur from the Diocese of Knoxville.

In 2010, David was introduced to the writings of Luisa Piccarreta, which deeply resonated with his own spiritual insights. This encounter helped shape the foundation of his ministry.

In 2017, he founded the Your Faith Anew! prayer and study group to help Catholics rediscover and fall in love with their Faith. At the heart of his message is this conviction:

“The Catholic Faith prepares us to receive the Gift of Living in the Divine Will—and this Gift enables us to live our Faith in a divine manner most pleasing to God.”

Luisa writes,

In my mind I was thinking: ‘If these writings ended up in someone’s hands,

this person may say: “She must be a good Christian if the Lord gives her so

many graces”, not knowing that in spite of all this I am still so bad. Here is how

people can deceive themselves, both in good and in evil. Ah, Lord! You alone

know the truth, and the depth of the hearts.’ While I was thinking of this, blessed

Jesus came and told me: “My beloved, and what if people knew that you are my

defender and theirs!”

And I: ‘My Jesus, what are You saying?’ And He: “What? Is it not true that

you defend Me from the pains that they give Me by placing yourself between Me

and them, and that you take upon yourself the blow that I am about to receive,

as well as that which I should pour down upon them? And if sometimes you do

not receive it upon yourself, it is because I do not allow it; and this, to your great

sorrow, to the point of lamenting to Me. Can you perhaps deny it?”

‘No Lord, I cannot deny it, but I see that it is something that You Yourself

have infused in me – this is why I say that it is not because I am good, and I feel

all confused in hearing You speak these words to me’

Welcome. This is David Russell and your faith anew Daily Reflections guiding you to live in the divine will. Today's reflection is from the Book of Heaven by the servant of God Louisa Picaretta, september twenty fifth, eighteen ninety nine, volume two. Let us begin in the will and name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Jesus, draw us into the truth of who we are before you. Free us from the need to appear holy, accomplished, or worthy in the eyes of others. Give us the simplicity to receive every grace as your gift, and to return everything to you with gratitude. May your will find in us a heart that seeks your glory alone. Amen. A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians, chapter four, verse seven. Who confers distinction upon you? What do you possess that you have not received? But if you've received it, why are you boasting as if you did not receive it? The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in paragraph two thousand and one. The preparation of man for the reception of grace is already a work of grace. This latter is needed to arouse and sustain our collaboration in justification through faith and in sanctification through charity. God brings to completion in us what He has begun, since He who completes His work by cooperating with our will began by working so that we might will it. Indeed, we also work, but we are only collaborating with God who works, for His mercy has gone before us. It has gone before us so that we may be healed, and follows us so that once healed we may be given life. It goes before us so that we may be called, and follows us so that we may be glorified. It goes before us so that we might live devoutly, and follows us so that we may always live with God, for without him we can do nothing. While I was thinking of this, blessed Jesus came and told me My beloved, and what if people knew that you are my defender and theirs? And I my Jesus what are you saying? And he what? Is it not true that you defend me from the pains that they give me by placing yourself between me and them? No, Lord, I cannot deny it, but I see that it is something that you yourself have infused in me. This is why I say that it is not because I am good, and I feel all confused in hearing you speak these words to me. There is a particular freedom that comes when we finally stop trying to measure our own holiness. We may look at our prayer life, our sacrifices, our service, or even the ways God seems to be working through us, and quietly begin to form an opinion about ourselves. Perhaps we think we're doing well, or perhaps we go in the opposite direction and decide that we are doing terribly. Either way, our attention has shifted from Jesus to ourselves. Saint Paul gives us a wonderfully simple remedy in today's scripture. Whatever is genuinely good in us has first been received. That truth does not diminish us, it sets us free. The Christian life is not about building a spiritual resume before God. Grace is his initiative. Even our ability to respond to grace is already touched by grace. The catechism reminds us that God's action comes first, awakening and sustaining our response. This becomes especially important as we learn to live in the divine will. Living in God's will can never become a spiritual achievement that we can claim as our possession, as though we had reached a level that distinguishes us from other souls. The deeper God draws us into union with Him, the less interested we should become in measuring ourselves against anyone else. Instead, something much simpler begins to happen. Jesus becomes more important than our spiritual progress. We begin each day saying, in effect, Lord, whatever good you desire today, do it in me. Whatever love you wish to give, let me receive it and return it to you. Whatever person you place before me, love that person through me. Whatever cross arrives, give me the grace to carry it united with you. Then even our weakness can keep us close to Him. We don't need to pretend that weakness is strength. We simply refuse to let weakness have the final word. We bring it to Christ and allow him to work precisely where we know we are insufficient. And perhaps this is one of the safest places for a soul to remain, not staring anxiously at itself asking how holy am I, but looking toward Jesus and saying, Lord, everything good is yours. Keep me in your will, and accomplish in me whatever gives the Father the greatest glory. Let us pray. Jesus, I belong to you. I thank you for every grace I recognize and for countless graces I will never see. Protect me from taking possession of your gifts as though they originated in me. When I am tempted to measure myself, turn my eyes toward you. When others see something good in me, may the praise return quietly to you. And when I see my weakness, let it become an invitation to depend upon you more completely. Jesus, let your divine will live and act within me. Take my thoughts, my words, my work, my prayer, my joys, and my sacrifices, and unite them to your perfect love. May everything begin in you, remain in you, and return to the Father through you. Amen. Thank you for joining your faith anew today. Until tomorrow, stay in his will, and your faith will be made anew.
