Welcome, this is David Russell and your faith anew, daily reflections guiding you to live in the divine will. Today's reflection is from the Book of Heaven by the servant of God Louisa Pecaretta, october thirty first, nineteen hundred, volume four. Let us begin in the will and name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Heavenly Father, grant us the grace to recognize your presence even when our understanding fails. Free our hearts from the need to control what belongs to your providence. Through the loving intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, teach us to remain faithful to your Son, whose love never abandons us. Amen. A reading from the Book of Wisdom, chapter three verses one through five. The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead, and their passing away was thought an affliction, and their going forth from us utter destruction. But they are in peace, for if to others indeed they seem punished, yet is their hope full of immortality. Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed, because God tried them and found them worthy of himself. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in paragraph twenty eight twenty five. Although he was a son, Jesus learned obedience through what he suffered. How much more reason have we sinful creatures to learn obedience? We who in him have become children of adoption. We ask our Father to unite our will to his sons in order to fulfill his will, his plan of salvation for the life of the world. We are radically incapable of this, but united with Jesus and with the power of his Holy Spirit, we can surrender our will to him and decide to choose what His Son has always chosen to do what is pleasing to the Father. Let us enter today's reading with a heart attentive to what the Lord may be asking of us. Louisa writes As I was in my usual state, I felt myself outside of myself and I found the Queen Mamma. As she saw me, she began to speak about justice and how it is about to clash with all its fury against the people. She said many things about this, but I don't have the words to express them. In the meantime, I could see the whole of heaven filled with points of swords against the world. Then she added, My daughter, you have disarmed divine justice many times, contenting yourself with receiving its blows upon yourself. Now that you see it at the summit of its fury, do not lose heart, but be courageous. With heart full of holy fortitude, enter into this justice and disarm it. Do not be afraid of the swords, of the fire, or of anything you may encounter in order to obtain the intent. If you see yourself wounded, beaten, burned, rejected, do not draw back, but rather let this be a spur for you to move on. See, so that you may do this, I myself have come to your help by bringing you a garment. As your soul wears it, you will acquire courage and fortitude so as to fear nothing. Having said this, from within her mantle she pulled out a garment woven with gold, streaked with various colours, and she clothed my soul. Then she gave me her son, telling me, and now, as a pledge of my love, I place my dearest son in your custody, that you may keep him, love him, and content him in everything. Try to act in my stead, so that as he finds all his contentment in you, the discontent that all the others give him may not cause him too much pain. Who can say how happy and strengthened I was, clothed with that garment and with a loving pledge in my arms. Greater happiness I could certainly not desire. Then the Queen Mama disappeared, and I remained with my sweet Jesus. We went round the earth a little bit, and among the many encounters we met a soul who was prey to despair. Having compassion for her, we drew near her, and Jesus wanted me to speak to her, to make her comprehend the evil she was doing. Through a light which Jesus Himself infused in me, I said to her The most salitary and efficacious medicine in the saddest encounters of life is resignation. By despairing, instead of taking the medicine, you are taking the poison with which to kill your soul. Don't you know that the most appropriate remedy for all evils, the main thing that renders us noble, divinizes us, makes us similar to our Lord, and has the virtue of converting the very bitternesses into sweetness is resignation. What was the life of Jesus upon earth if not continuing the will of the Father? And while he was on earth, he was united with the Father in heaven. The same for a resigned soul. While living on earth, her heart and will are united with God in heaven. Can there be anything more dear and desirable than this? As though stirred, that soul began to calm herself, and Jesus and I, together, withdrew. May everything be for the glory of God, and may He be always blessed. There is an enormous difference between believing that God exists and believing that God can be trusted with everything. The first is a conviction of faith. The second is a relationship that gradually transforms the way we live. Consider how much of our interior suffering comes from anticipating things that have not happened. We imagine conversations, rehearse disappointments, and prepare ourselves for difficulties that may never arrive. And sometimes, when suffering actually comes, we discover that the grace to endure it is greater than anything we imagined. Why? Because God does not ordinarily give us tomorrow's grace today. He invites us to receive him in the present moment. The book of wisdom reminds us that those who place their trust in God are never beyond his loving care. Even when suffering obscures his presence, faith assures us that our lives remain precious in his sight and that his promises endure. This is where Christian hope becomes something far greater than optimism. Optimism expects circumstances to improve. Christian hope rests upon the promises of God, even when circumstances remain unchanged. And hope has a name. Jesus Christ. Think of the Blessed Virgin Mary standing beneath the cross. She could not change what was happening before her eyes. She could not remove the suffering of her beloved son. Yet her faith remained united to the Father's saving purpose. Mary did not possess every answer. She possessed something greater, a heart wholly available to God. That is the disposition we seek when we speak of living in the divine will. It's not pretending that suffering does not hurt. It's not suppressing grief, dismissing fear, or becoming indifferent to the needs of others. It is allowing Jesus to form within us his own loving obedience to the Father. And there's an important distinction here. Surrender to God is never permission to surrender to evil. We are still called to seek justice, protect the vulnerable, obtain necessary help, and exercise the freedom and responsibility God has given us. But even as we act, our deepest security rests somewhere beyond our own abilities. Perhaps today you're carrying a concern that has occupied your thoughts for weeks. You have prayed, considered your choices, and done everything reasonably within your power. There may come a moment when the most faithful thing you can do is simply entrust the outcome to God. Not because you've stopped caring, but because you have begun trusting. But in that quiet act of confidence, something beautiful happens. The circumstances may remain exactly as they were. But the heart no longer stands alone. Jesus is there. Let us pray. Lord Jesus, I adore you as the faithful son of the eternal Father. You know the things I find difficult to entrust to you. You know how easily my peace becomes dependent upon answers, assurances, and favorable outcomes. Come into those hidden places of my heart, where my faith is hesitant, draw me closer, where my love is divided. Make it whole. Through the intercession of your blessed mother, teach me to receive each moment as an opportunity to love you. May your divine will find a willing home within my soul, and may everything I do today become an offering of love to the Father. Jesus, I belong to you. Amen.
